Woman claims condition of stairs on Carnival ship caused fall

Cruise 03

MIAMI – A Florida woman alleges she was injured after a fall on the Carnival Splendor.

Barbara Francis filed a complaint on Oct. 13 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Nov. 17, 2015, she suffered physical injuries from falling on the stairs because of a foreign substance that caused the steps to be slick. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly allowed the dangerous condition to exist and did not have adequate lighting or use slip-resistant flooring.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, interest, and any other relief the court grants. She is represented by Carol L. Finklehoffe, Michael A. Winkleman and Peter J. Ridge of Lipcon, Margulies, Alsina & Winkleman PA in Miami.
