JACKSONVILLE – A Jacksonville consumer alleges a debt collector has called her more than 100 times this year in an attempt to collect a debt owned by another person.
Janet Lynn Williams filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against Navient Solutions Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant harassed her by allegedly using an automatic telephone dialing system to contact her number to collect a debt owed by a person not known to her. She alleges she has never had a business relationship with the defendant and she informed the defendant's agents that they had the wrong number.
The plaintiff seeks statutory damages, punitive and actual damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Amy Ferrera of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in Tampa.
