TAMPA – A former employee alleges a Brooksville business did not pay overtime wages.

Robert Chickering filed a complaint on behalf of himself and those similarly situated on Sept. 28 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Discount Garage Doors Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that from April to July 2016 he was employed by the defendant as a garage door installer, often times working for more than 40 hours per week. However, plaintiff alleges he and all class members were not paid overtime wages.

The plaintiffs hold Discount Garage Doors Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to compensate plaintiffs for overtime hours worked, failed to maintain accurate pay and time records and failed to post informational listings required by the FLSA.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant for unpaid overtime compensation, liquidated damages, interest, attorneys' fees, costs incurred, declaratory relief and further relief that the court deem just. He is represented by Matthew R. Gunter of Morgan & Morgan PA in Orlando.
