MIAMI – A Royal Caribbean Cruises passenger alleges he contracted Legionnaires' disease while on a cruise.
Joseph A. Brown filed a complaint on Oct. 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD alleging negligence.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2015, he suffered physical injuries from being diagnosed with Legionnaires’ disease that he was exposed to on the defendant's ship. He alleges he was hospitalized for a week and was forced to retire from his job as a result of the illness. The plaintiff holds Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to warn plaintiff regarding the existence of Legionella aboard their vessel prior to the start of the voyage and by allegedly creating a hazardous and dangerous condition about the vessel.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensatory damages, punitive damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Domingo C. Rodriguez of Rodriguez Law Office LLC in Miami.
