MIAMI – A former housekeeper and cleaner for a Lauderhill employer claims she was wrongfully terminated for complaining about not receiving overtime pay.
Louise St. Jusma filed a complaint on Oct. 5 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Chen Neighborhood Medical Centers of South Florida LLC, doing business as Chen Neighborhood Medical Centers, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between December 2014 and September, she worked for more than 40 hours per workweek without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Chen Neighborhood Medical Centers of South Florida LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay overtime wages to plaintiff for working more than 40 hours and retaliated against plaintiff for complaining by terminating her employment.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back pay and front pay, liquidated damages, interest, compensatory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Peter J. Bober and Samara Bober of Bober & Bober PA in Hollywood.
