CNA claims Adventist Health System/Sunbelt Inc. terminated her because of pregnancy

Wrongful term 02

ORLANDO – A certified nursing assistant alleges she was terminated from her job because of her pregnancy.

Tiffany Goldsbrough filed a complaint on Sept. 28 in the 9th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Orange County against Adventist Health System/Sunbelt Inc., doing business as Florida Hospital, alleging violation of the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Florida Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in January 2014, she was employed by the defendant and became pregnant. The suit states she suffered severe morning sickness, which caused her to miss a few scheduled shifts but she would always provide doctor's notes. Despite that, she alleges she was threatened by her manager to resign or be terminated and was terminated for not responding to a certified letter, which she claims she never received.

The plaintiff holds Adventist Health System/Sunbelt Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully retaliated against her for her exercise of her FMLA rights.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, damages, costs, expenses, attorney's fees and other lawful relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Chad E. Levy of Law Offices of Levy & Levy PA in Fort Lauderdale.
