Law money 02

FORT LAUDERDALE — A former employee has filed suit against her employer for alleged unpaid wages.

Silvia Lopez filed a complaint Sept. 28 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Fort Lauderdale Division, against Beach Spot Inc., doing business as Rockbar, alleging that the employer failed to fairly compensate the plaintiff for her work.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between 2015 and 2016, she worked without being paid the regular minimum wage. The plaintiff holds Beach Spot Inc., doing business as Rockbar, responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff applicable minimum wages for all her hours worked.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual damages, liquidated damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Matthew R. McGuigan of Mill Stone Legal Group LLC in Fort Lauderdale.
