MIAMI – A former employee of a Lauderdale Lakes restaurant has filed a suit to reclaim allegedly unpaid overtime wages.

Dorrett Ebanks filed a complaint on Sept. 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carl's Seafood Restaurant Inc. and Carl Dixon alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she worked for more than 40 hours per week for the defendant without being paid any overtime compensation for more than 10 years. The plaintiff holds Carl's Seafood Restaurant Inc. and Dixon responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay plaintiff any overtime premium for hours worked that exceeded 40 hours at a rate of time-and-one-half her regular wages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks overtime compensation owed to her, liquidated damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Mark Douglas of Mark Douglas Law Firm in Lauderdale.
