TAMPA – A Hillsborough County woman has filed a class-action suit against a health care facility services provider alleging she was not compensated for all the hours that she worked.

Milka Vega filed a complaint on her own behalf and for all others similarly situated on Sept. 2 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Healthcare Services Group Inc. alleging that the employer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, Vega was employed by the defendant as an account manager from August 2013 to May, which entitled her to receive overtime compensation for extra hours worked over 40, but was only paid a weekly salary regardless of the number of actual hours worked. She alleges the defendant's practices caused her to suffer damages.

The plaintiffs hold Healthcare Services Group Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to preserve records of hours worked by employees and failed to compensate employees for work performed in excess of forty hours per week.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against defendant, monetary damages, back pay compensation, unpaid compensation, interest, attorneys' fees, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled. She is represented by Marc R. Edelman of Morgan & Morgan in Tampa.
