ORLANDO – A Volusia County man claims a debt collector has been harassing him with phone calls.

Richard Chrisman filed a complaint on Sept. 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC citing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that from 2006 to January, the defendant has called on average of once per day in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Portfolio Recovery Associates LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system in contacting plaintiff and continued to call after the plaintiff requested that it stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, punitive damages, actual damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jared M. Lee of Morgan & Morgan, Tampa P.A. in Orlando.
