Man claims Jenkins Automotive Group terminated him for requesting FMLA leave

Wrongful term 02

OCALA – A man alleges an Ocala business terminated him for requesting a leave of absence.

Christopher Morano filed a complaint on Sept. 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Ocala Division against DRJ Investments Inc., doing business as Jenkins Automotive Group, citing the Family Medical Leave Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges in August, he was terminated from his employment after asking for a leave of absence to take care of his ill minor son in July. The plaintiff holds DRJ Investments Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully terminated plaintiff's employment in retaliation for exercising his FMLA rights.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks back wages, back benefits, front pay, compensatory damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Amanda Ellen B. Clay of Spielberger Law Group in Tampa.
