Boca Beauty Academy alleged to owe more than $5,000 to former nail tech educator

WEST PALM BEACH – An educator alleges a beauty school owes her more than $5,000 in unpaid overtime.

Lisa Stienberger filed a complaint on Aug. 31 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Boca Beauty Academy LLC and Jack Bragin citing the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that from Aug. 24, 2015, to Aug. 8, she worked for defendants as a nail technology educator earning a pay rate of $16 per hour. The suit states that although plaintiff routinely worked 52 hours per week during a period of time, she was not paid overtime wages that have amounted to $5,568.

The plaintiff holds Boca Beauty Academy LLC and Jack Bragin responsible because the defendants allegedly refused to tender payment of wages owed to plaintiff and failed to keep a record of employees' hours worked.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendants, costs of suit, attorney’s fees and other remedies as the court deems just. She is represented by James M. Loren of Goldberg & Loren PA in Plantation.
