Superior Schools Corp. allegedly failed to pay overtime wages

TAMPA — A former employee has filed a class-action lawsuit for allegedly not being paid overtime wages.

Blaine Rumsey filed a complaint on behalf of himself and others similarly situated Aug. 31 in Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Superior Schools Corp. and Steve Christopoulos,   alleging that they failed to fairly compensate the plaintiff for all of the hours he worked.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between April 2014 and August 2016, he worked for more than 40 hours per week without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Superior Schools Corp. and Steve Christopoulos responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to pay plaintiff any overtime premium for hours worked that exceeded 40.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks economic damages, lost wages, benefits, reinstatement of benefits, front and back pay, liquidated damages, compensatory damages, punitive damages, all legal fees and interest plus any other relief as the court deems appropriate. He is represented by Jay P. Lechner and Jason M. Melton of Whittel & Melton, LLC in St. Petersbrrg.
