TAMPA – A Hillsborough County man has filed a suit against a creditor over allegations of making unlawful calls to his phone.

Lawrence Dilorenzo filed a complaint on Aug. 30 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Credit One Bank NA citing the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in January 2014, he was contacted on his cellular telephone by the defendant in an attempt to collect an alleged debt he owed, and instructed the defendant to stop calling. The plaintiff holds Credit One Bank NA responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic telephone dialing system to contact plaintiff and continued to contact him despite his request to stop.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Christopher W. Boss of Boss Law in St. Petersberg.
