ORLANDO — A former morning show host for an area radio station claims she allegedly wasn't paid overtime wages.

Karen Taffanelli filed a complaint on Aug. 24 in U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division, against Florida Victory Outreach Center Inc. doing business as KQ Radio Broadcasting Inc., alleging that the employer failed to fairly compensate her for all of the hours she worked.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between January and June, she worked for more than 40 hours without being paid any overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds Florida Victory Outreach Center Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay the plaintiff any overtime premium for hours worked that exceeded 40 per week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks unpaid back wages, liquidated damages, prejudgment interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems appropriate. She is represented by Luis A. Cabassa of Wenzel Fenton Cabassa P.A. in Tampa.
