Man claims cruise ship massage caused herniated disc

Cruise 08

MIAMI – A North Carolina man alleges he required surgery for neck injuries sustained during a massage on a cruise ship.

Steven Kilbey filed a complaint on July 22 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp. and Steiner Leisure LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in July 2015, he experienced pain after getting a hot rock massage by Steiner on the Carnival cruise ship, which was later determined to be caused by a herniated disc that needed surgery to fix. The plaintiff holds Carnival Corp. and Steiner Leisure LTD responsible because the defendants' employee was too aggressive with the manipulations of the plaintiff's neck during the massage and that negligence caused the plaintiff's injuries.

The plaintiff seeks judgment for damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Andrew L. Waks of Waks & Barnett PA in Miami.
