Aetna Life Insurance Co. allegedly denied disability payments to policyholder

Insurance 08

PALM BEACH — A woman has filed suit against an insurance company, alleging that she was denied long-term disability payments to which she was entitled.

Dorothy Tucker filed a complaint on Aug. 23 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Palm Beach Division, against Aetna Life Insurance Co., alleging that the insurance firm denied her claim for disability benefits.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she became disabled and filed for disability benefits, but was denied. The plaintiff holds Aetna Life Insurance Company responsible because the defendant allegedly refused to grant the plaintiff disability benefits.

The plaintiff seeks a declaration that she is entitled to benefits under the long-term disability policy plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems appropriate. She is represented by William S. Coffman Jr. of Coffman Law in Tampa.
