FORT LAUDERDALE — A woman has filed suit against her former employer, alleging unpaid wages.

Deborah Lipski filed a complaint on Aug. 17 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Shirts R Us of Hollywood Inc. and Lydia Kruger, alleging that they violated her rights under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was a non-exempt employee under the FLSA and usually worked in excess of 40 hours per week, but the defendant purportedly did not pay the plaintiff for overtime premiums. The plaintiff holds Shirts R Us of Hollywood Inc. and Lydia Kruger responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to keep a record of hours worked by the plaintiff and refused to compensate the plaintiff for overtime hours.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against the defendant, damages, liquidated damages, interest, attorneys’ fees, costs of suit and other relief as the court deems appropriate. She is represented by Chad Levy of Law Offices of Levy & Levy PA in Fort Lauderdale.
