MIAMI — A consumer is suing Wakefield & Associates Inc., a debt collector, alleging that it failed to list the plaintiff's credit account as "disputed by customer."
Joshua Mack filed a complaint on Aug. 10 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Wakefield & Associates Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in December 2015, he suffered damage to his credit account. The plaintiff holds Wakefield & Associates Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to list the plaintiff's account as "disputed by customer" despite receiving the plaintiff's dispute letter.
The plaintiff seeks actual damages, statutory damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems reasonable. He is represented by Michael Jay Ringelheim of RC Law Group in Hackensack, New Jersey.
