Widow claims Hartford Life wrongfully denied her benefit claim

Insurance 07

ORLANDO – A widow alleges a Connecticut insurance company unlawfully denied her benefits from her late husband's insurance policy.

Deborah G. Frame filed a complaint on Aug. 11 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that her late husband had an accidental death and dismemberment policy issued by the defendant, and that he died in a motor vehicle accident on Sept. 2, 2015. She alleges that on Sept. 23, 2015, she submitted a claim to the defendant for the policy benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. responsible because it allegedly denied the plaintiff the benefits despite the plaintiff being the beneficiary.

The plaintiff seeks payment of the policy benefits due to plaintiff, all legal fees and interest, and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer, Chartered in Hollywood.
