JASPER – A Georgia couple has filed suit against an Alabama business and its employee after an accident in Hamilton County.

Michael Hopkins and Danna Hopkins filed a complaint on Aug. 11 in the 3rd Judicial Circuit Court of Florida - Hamilton County against Marcus Barnard Coleman and Robbie D. Wood Inc. alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on April 30, 2012, Danna Hopkins sustained physical injuries and damages including medical expenses as result of an accident on Interstate 75. The suit states Coleman was operating a tractor-trailer owned by Ronnie D. Wood Inc. when he collided with Hopkins.

The plaintiffs hold Coleman and Robbie D. Wood Inc. responsible because Coleman allegedly operated his tractor-trailer in a careless manner, was traveling at an excessive rate of speed and failed to timely apply his brakes.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek judgment against the defendant for compensatory damages. They are represented by John D. Holt of Law Offices of John D. Holt PC in Valdosta, Georgia.
