MIAMI — An employee is suing Life Insurance Company of North America claiming she was denied long-term disability benefits.
Jody Williams filed a lawsuit on Aug. 8 in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Life Insurance Company of North America, alleging that the insurance firm denied her claim for disability benefits.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that, in July 2014, she became disabled and applied for disability benefits, but was denied. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Company of North America responsible, because the defendant allegedly denied the plaintiff's claim for long-term disability benefits based upon its claim that the plaintiff is not disabled.
The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits due to her, reinstatement to the plan benefits, payment of all legal fees and interest, and any other relief as the court determines. Williams is represented by Victor Pena and Gregory Michael Dell of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer in Hollywood, Florida.
