Man files suit over claims he was wrongfully denied disability benefits

JACKSONVILLE – A Duval County man alleges he was wrongfully denied disability benefits.

Michael Brown filed a complaint on Aug. 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Jacksonville Division against Life Insurance Co. of North America alleging violated of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in May 2014, he became disabled and applied for disability benefits but was denied. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Co. of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly denied plaintiff's long-term and short-term disability benefits.

The plaintiff seeks payment of disability benefits due and owing plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Thomas M. Farrell IV of Farrell Disability Law in Jacksonville.
