Woman alleges debt collector contacted her without consent

Phone 07

ORLANDO – A Seminole County woman alleges a company that she has never done business with has called her at least 40 times using an automatic telephone dialing system.

Kristin J. Hilton filed a complaint on July 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against IC Systems Inc. alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that in 2012, she was contacted multiple times on her cellular telephone by the defendant. The plaintiff holds IC Systems Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly used an automatic dialing system to contact plaintiff and never had her consent to contact her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages against the defendant, statutory damages $500 for the first call and $1,500 per call for any additional calls, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is representing herself.
