Class action filed against Keiser University over telemarketing calls

MIAMI – A Fort Lauderdale academic institution is facing a class-action lawsuit over its telemarketing practices.

John Paoletti filed a complaint on behalf of all others similarly situated on July 25 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Everglades College Inc., doing business as Keiser University, alleging violation of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was contacted several times by the defendant to enroll him at the institution despite his number being registered with the National Do Not Call Registry. The plaintiff holds Everglades College Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly contacted plaintiff several times despite his requests to stop calling him.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks actual and statutory damages, injunction against the defendant, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just.
