Woman files suit seeking long-term disability benefits from Unum Life

TAMPA – A woman has filed a suit alleging that she was wrongfully denied long-term disability benefits.

Pamela Devine filed a complaint on July 21 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Unum Life Insurance Co. of America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was denied of receiving any disability benefits despite being eligible according to the terms of the plan. The plaintiff holds Unum Life Insurance Co. of America responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and refused to pay plaintiff sums according to the terms of the long-term disability benefit policy.

The plaintiff seeks reinstatement plus any ancillary benefits to which she is entitled to, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by William S. Coffman Jr. of Coffman Law in Tampa.
