MIAMI – A Texas company claims a Juno Beach company used its patented technology in advertising.
Symbology Innovations LLC filed a complaint on July 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against NextEra Energy Inc. alleging that the Florida corporation infringes one or more claims of several patents currently owned by plaintiff.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of its patented technology being used without its authority. The plaintiff holds NextEra Energy Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly incorporates Quick Response codes that are covered by plaintiff's patents.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an award of damages, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Joel B. Rothman and Jerold I. Schneider of Schneider Rothman Intellectual Property Law Group PLLC in Boca Raton.
