Symbology Innovations accuses Freshpoint of patent infringement

MIAMI – A Texas company claims a food distributor uses technology covered by its patents in advertising.

Symbology Innovations LLC filed a complaint on July 20 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Freshpoint Inc. alleging patent infringement.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it suffered damages to its business as the result of its patented technology being used without its authority. The plaintiff holds Freshpoint Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly incorporated plaintiff's patented technology into their products with its use of Quick Response Codes in advertising media.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks enjoin the defendant, award damages to plaintiff, all legal fees and interest and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Joel B. Rothman and Jerold I. Schneider of Schneider Rothman Intellectual Property Law Group PLLC in Boca Raton.
