FORT LAUDERDALE – Greenberg Traurig labor attorney Peter W. Zinober was recognized by Human Resource Executive, Lawdragon, and named into the Hall of Fame, which is the publication’s highest honor, in June.
Zinober explained that the way an attorney gets the award involves being repeatedly ranked as one of the 100 most powerful attorneys.

“Each year there is a new class of hall of famers. I was in the second class and received it for the third time this year,” Zinober recently told Florida Record.
Recommendations by peers, clients, judges and lawyers also help determine who is considered and honored. It also depends on one’s resume and his or her efforts as a lawyer during tenure, Zinober explained.
“There is no real magic to it,” he said. “You see the people who are successful and at the top and then you select the hall of famers from that group.”
When Zinober saw the list of people who were awarded, he explained that he was really pleased to be in such great company. He explained that there were some seriously impressive names on the short list of honorees.
“I have an enormous amount of respect for the company in which I am included,” he said.
In labor disputes, Zinober explained that his job is to find resolution. His job includes creating labor relations with labor unions and employers, arbitrating disputes, addressing fair labor standards and wage per hour disputes.
Simply put, he helps employers maintain positive relations with their employees while avoiding the expense and disruption of litigation.
In employment litigation, Zinober covers discrimination, sexual harassment, breach of contract and non-compete agreements, wrongful termination (including whistle-blower cases), lawsuits under Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act and class-action lawsuits.
Not many lawyers cover labor and employment disputes. Most choose one or the other. Zinober says he does both, which is rare.
Zinober is co-chair of Greenberg Traurig lawfirm’s Global Labor & Employment Practice and also specializes in state and federal court cases, both jury and non-jury.
He also represents employers in connection with unfair labor practice and represents case proceedings before the National Labor Relations Board, labor and non-union arbitrations, collective bargaining and counseling.
On top if his third-year running with the Lawdragon Hall of Fame, just in 2016 he also received recognition in The Best Lawyers in America, Employment Law – Management; Labor Law – Management; Litigation – Labor & Employment; Who’s Who Legal: Labour, Employment & Benefits 2016, Labour & Employment; Chambers Global, Labor & Employment (USA); Chambers USA Guide, Labor and Employment Law—Star Individual; and The Legal 500 United States, Labor and Employment Litigation.
Zinober explained that based on the political, social and business climates, the cases he sees the most of these days are wage and hourly standards debate, as well as conflicts with intellectual property and non-compete contracts.
