Man alleges he was wrongfully terminated by Saddle Creek Corp.

Wrongful term 14

TAMPA – A man alleges he was wrongfully terminated by a Lakeland company after requesting leave to care for his wife.

George Doherty filed a complaint on July 13 in the Tampa Division for the Middle District of Florida against Saddle Creek Corp. alleging violation of the Family Medical Leave Act and the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on June 13, he was terminated from his employment after notifying his employer that he needed to take a medical leave to care for his wife, who has cancer. The plaintiff holds Saddle Creek Corp. responsible because the defendants allegedly terminated plaintiff's employment in retaliation for requesting leave, which caused severe damages to him due to needing his employee health insurance to cover his wife's medical expenses.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks all equitable relief, payment of all medical expenses, statutory damages, reinstatement and back pay, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Christina J. Thomas and Bernard R. Mazaheri of Morgan & Morgan in Orlando.
