TAMPA – A Manatee County consumer alleges debt collector harassed him with phone calls.
William Leaisure filed a complaint on July 11 in the Tampa Division of the Middle District of Florida against Onemain Financial Group LLC alleging violations of the Telephone Consumer Protection Act and the Florida Consumer Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he was contacted on his cellular telephone several times by the defendant in an attempt to collect an alleged debt. The plaintiff holds Onemain Financial Group LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly called plaintiff more than 1,200 times using an automatic dialing system despite his request to stop calling him.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks statutory damages, punitive damages, actual damages, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. He is represented by Jared M. Lee of Morgan & Morgan Tampa PA in Orlando.
