MIAMI – A Broward County woman has filed a complaint against a Los Angeles debt collector over allegations it repeatedly contacted her about a purported debt that belonged to a family member.
Alene R. Yarbrough filed a complaint on July 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against USCB Inc., doing business as USCB America, alleging violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was contacted by the defendant several times in an attempt to collect an alleged debt owned by a family member. The plaintiff holds USCB Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly contacted plaintiff several times using a pre-recorded message and also purportedly was not registered as a debt collector in the state.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Donald A. Yarbrough of Donald A. Yarbrough in Fort Lauderdale.
