Woman accuses LINA of wrongfully terminating benefits

Insurance 11

MIAMI – A woman alleges her disability benefits were wrongfully terminated.

Stacey Interlandi filed a complaint on June 30 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Life Insurance Co. of North America alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was disabled and was initially approved to receive benefits for her disability but alleges the benefits were terminated in 2015 after she refused a buyout. The plaintiff holds Life Insurance Co. of North America responsible because the defendant allegedly upheld its decision in terminating plaintiff's disability benefits despite plaintiff's several appeals.

The plaintiff seeks reinstatement, for the defendant to provide insurance benefits as a long as plaintiff remains disabled under the terms, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by Stephen F. Jessup of Attorneys Dell and Schaefer Chartered in Hollywood.
