Couple alleges they were injured on Carnival cruise ship

Cruise 01

MIAMI – Two passengers allege they were injured aboard the Carnival Imagination after they were caused to fall.

Petronilo Pineda Jr. and Adelaida Pineda filed a complaint on June 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Carnival Corp., doing business as Carnival Cruise Lines, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that on Nov.14, 2015, they suffered injuries when both of them fell on the floor due to the electric door suddenly closing, which hit plaintiff Adelaida Pineda causing her to fall backward and collide with Petronilo Pineda Jr. The plaintiffs hold Carnival Corp. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to inspect the electric doors inside its vessel to make sure that it was in proper working condition and that it was safe for passengers to pass through it.

The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek all damages plus interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. They are represented by Jay Halpern of Jay Halpern and Associates PA in Coral Gables.
