MIAMI – A Milwaukee corporation is suing a Miami Beach business alleging it infringed a patent regarding wireless earphones.
Koss Corp. filed a complaint on May 27 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Muzik LLC alleging that the Florida business infringed the '420 patent owned by plaintiff.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that Koss Corp. suffered damages to its business as a result of its patent being used without its authority. The plaintiff holds Muzik LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly manufactured and distributed wireless headphones that infringes the '420 patent.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks to permanently enjoin the defendant from infringing the '420 patent, damages, compensatory damages, interest, payment of enhanced damages, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. It is represented by Jonathan B. Morton of K&L Gates LLP in Miami and Patrick J. McElhinny, Mark G. Knedeisen and Christopher M. Verdini of K&L Gates LLP in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
