Suit filed against Norwegian Cruise Line over alleged injuries

Cruise 10

MIAMI – A Duval County woman who was a passenger on the cruise ship Getaway alleges she injured her leg after falling on the ship.

Gail P. Dupre filed a complaint on May 23 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against NCL (BAHAMAS) LTD, doing business as Norwegian Cruise Line, alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on July 2, 2015, she suffered a fracture on her right femur which required surgery when she slipped and fell due a puddle of water on the deck of the vessel. The plaintiff holds NCL (BAHAMAS) Ltd. responsible because the defendant allegedly allowed water to accumulate on the deck of its vessel without providing adequate warning and failing to inspect the floor for wet areas.

The plaintiff seeks damages, loss of earning capacity, past and future expenses, interest, all legal fees and any other relief as the court deems just. She is represented by John H. Hickey of Hickey Law Firm PA in Miami.
