Quantum of the Seas passenger claims she was injured by door on cruise ship

Cruise 02

MIAMI – A cruise passenger alleges that a defective door struck her and caused injuries.

Guiying Ma filed a complaint on May 18 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD alleging negligence.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Jan. 22, while she and her family were entering a theater aboard the Quantum of the Seas, a steel fireproof door fell from behind, knocking her unconscious and caused her to fall to the ground. As a result of the incident, she alleges she sustained permanent painful injuries that require ongoing and future medical care. The plaintiff holds Royal Caribbean Cruises LTD responsible because the defendant allegedly negligently allowed a dangerous condition to exist, failed to repair the door in a timely manner, failed to have safety catch on the door to slow it down, failed to make reasonable inspections and failed to warn passengers of the dangerous condition.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment for all damages of more than $75,000, plus interest, cost and any other relief that the court may deem appropriate. She is represented by Louis Vucci of The Vucci Law Group PA in Miami.
