Woman files suit for benefits from Metropolitan Life

Insurance 11

ORLANDO – A disabled woman alleges she was wrongfully denied disability benefits.

Donna M. Katsur filed a complaint on May 9 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Orlando Division against Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. alleging that the plan administrator allegedly violated the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she has not received her benefits due and owing under the terms of her employer's welfare benefit plan. The plaintiff holds Metropolitan Life Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed and reused to pay her benefits due the plan.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order for her reinstatement to all benefits, including waiver of premium, payment of disability benefits, attorney's fees and any other relief as the court deems proper. She is represented by Gregory D. Swartwood of The National Law Firm LLP in Longwood.
