WEST PALM BEACH – A bookkeeper has filed suit against her former West Palm Beach County employer alleging it did not pay her overtime.

Cindy Monahan Romanczak filed a complaint on May 3 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, West Palm Beach Division against The Yacht & Racquet Club of Boca Raton Inc. alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she regularly worked more than 40 hours per week without receiving proper overtime compensation. The plaintiff holds The Yacht & Racquet Club of Boca Raton Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly misclassified her as an exempt employee and refused to pay time-and-one-half of her regular rate for each hour worked in excess of 40 hours per work week.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, attorney's fees and costs, prejudgment interest and all other relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Richard Celler of Richard Celler Legal PA in Davie.
