Law money 03

OCALA – A maintenance worker is suing a Lake County golf course operator alleging he is owed unpaid wages.

John Liles filed a complaint on May 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida Ocala Division against Mount Dora Golf Association Inc. alleging that it violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that during his employment from April 28, 2013, through April 1, 2015, he did not receive payment for all hours worked in excess of 40 hours per work week. He alleges he has accrued approximately $27,540 in damages. The plaintiff holds Mount Dora Golf Association Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to compensate him at a rate of one-and-one-half of his regular rate for all extra hours worked.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks recovery of unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, attorney fees, costs and interest and such other remedy as the court deems just and appropriate. He is represented by James M. Loren of Loren Law Group in Plantation.
