Suit filed against Miami-Dade man over allegedly unpaid student loan

Late 03

MIAMI – A government agency is suing a Miami-Dade County resident alleging failure to pay a Perkins student loan.

United States of America filed a complaint on May 2 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Noel A. Jiron alleging that the Miami-Dade County resident allegedly violated the student loan agreement.

According to the complaint, U.S. Department of Education records show that it did not receive payment of a loan that the defendant secured in 1988. The plaintiff holds Jiron responsible because the defendant allegedly neglected and refused to pay his indebtedness.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks judgment against defendant in the amount of $2,168.94, plus prejudgment interest, all administrative costs, attorneys' fees and for such other relief which the court may deem proper. He is represented by Steven M. Davis of Baker & Poliakoff PA in Coral Gables.
