ORLANDO – A Melbourne lighting manufacturer is suing a California corporation, alleging it is selling infringing products.
Lighting Science Group Corp. filed a complaint on April 21 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Sunco Lighting Inc. citing patent infringement.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that it has been injured and will continue to be injured unless and until the court enters an injunction prohibiting defendant from continuing further infringement. The plaintiff holds Sunco Lighting Inc. responsible because the defendant allegedly infringed Patent No. 8,967,844 and Patent No. 8,672,518, both titled Low Profile Light and Accessory Kit for the Same, in its Downlight products.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a preliminary and permanent injunction prohibiting further infringement by the defendant, compensation for actual damages, prejudgment and post-judgment interest, attorneys' fees and costs and any further relief that the court may deem just and proper. It is represented by Mark F. Warzecha of Widerman Malek PL in Melbourne.
