FORT PIERCE – A case manager is suing her former Lake Okeechobee employer alleging she was not paid overtime wages.

DeQuandra Rhames filed a complaint on April 19 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida Fort Pierce Division against G4S Youth Services LLC, alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that between June 2015 and October 2015, she was required to work for more than 40 hours per week but was not paid time-and-a-half of her regular rate for all her extra hours worked. She alleges has suffered damages by being denied overtime wages in accordance with FLSA. The plaintiff holds G4S Youth Services LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly unlawfully misclassified her as an exempt employee and failed and refused to pay her proper overtime wages.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for unpaid overtime wages, liquidated damages, reasonable attorneys’ fees and costs and such other and further relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Joseph Odato and Dennis A. Creed of Creed Law Group PLLC in Tampa.
