MIAMI – Three employees working for a business at the Miami International Airport allege that they were not paid all of their overtime wages.
George Kirsham Harris, Luxon Luborieux and Arturo Lacayo filed a complaint on April 8 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, Miami Division against Swissport SA LLC alleging that the employer violated the Fair Labor Standards Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they worked an estimated 60 hours per work week without proper compensation. The plaintiffs holds Swissport SA LLC responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to compensate them for all the time they worked before or after their scheduled work times and routinely deducted 30 minutes for lunch breaks even the plaintiffs rarely took the break. They allege that they were paid for some overtime, but not all.
The plaintiffs request a trial by jury and seek compensation for unpaid overtime, an additional amount as liquidated damages, reasonable attorney’s fees and costs, prejudgment interest and for any other relief which the court may deem reasonable under the circumstances. They are represented by Christopher F. Zacarias of Law Offices of Christopher F. Zacarias PA in Miami.
