MIAMI – A Broward County man alleges a Fort Lauderdale business has barriers that restrict access to the disabled.
Luis Sierra filed a complaint on April 7 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Ravenswood Warehouses LLC and Bissli Inc., doing business as Pita Plus, alleging violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act.
According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he visited the defendants' property on April 1 and he was denied full and safe equal access to their facilities. The plaintiff holds Ravenswood Warehouses LLC and Pita Plus responsible because the defendants allegedly failed to remove barriers to individuals with disabilities to access the restroom, entrance and parking lot.
The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks an order requiring defendant to alter the property to make it accessible to individuals with disabilities, an order directing defendants to evaluate their policies and procedures toward persons with disabilities, reasonable attorney's fees, costs, expenses and for such other further relief as the court may deem necessary, just and proper. He is represented by Mark D. Cohen of J & M Advocacy Group LLC in Hollywood.
