Coordinator sues Physicians Group Services PA for allegedly unpaid wages

Law money 01

ORLANDO – A health information coordinator has filed a class-action lawsuit against her former employer over claims that she was not paid overtime wages.

Heather Valentine filed a complaint on behalf of others similarly situated on April 6 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida against Physicians Group Services PA alleging violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she did not receive proper overtime compensation during her employment with the defendant. The plaintiff holds Physicians Group Services PA responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to properly credit her for all hours worked and refused to compensate her at time-and-one-half of her regular rate for all hours worked in excess of 40 in a work week despite her repeated requests.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for unpaid overtime wages, an equal amount of liquidated damages, prejudgment interest, attorney's fees and costs and for such other relief that the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Yolando A. Hewling of Farah and Farah PA in Jacksonville.
