Miami-Dade County resident accuses former employer of wrongful termination

MIAMI – An office assistant has filed suit against her former employers over allegations she was terminated because she was pregnant.

Lisdanay Campos filed a complaint on April 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against The Christmas Palace LLC, LED R US LLC and All Seasons Imports Inc. alleging that they violated the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the Florida Civil Rights Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that on Dec. 4, 2014, she informed the defendants that she was pregnant. Approximately a week later, her supervisor Ericka Montoya fired her allegedly because the business was slow. The plaintiff holds The Christmas Palace LLC, LED R US LLC and All Seasons Imports Inc. responsible because the defendants allegedly subjected her to disparate treatment because of her pregnancy, terminated her and hired someone who was not pregnant to replace her.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury; reinstatement; compensation for lost earnings and benefits; all damages, past, present and future; punitive damages; reasonable attorney's fees; and for such other and further relief as the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by R. Martin Saenz of Saenz & Anderson PLLC in Aventura.
