MIAMI – A former poker dealer alleges that a Hallandale Beach casino did not pay employees a minimum wage.

Soresnil Rodriguez filed a class-action complaint on April 4 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Gulfstream Park Racing Association, doing business as Gulfstream Park Racing and Casino, citing violations of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that she was employed by the defendant from Jan. 15, 2008, to March 29. She alleges that the defendant claimed a tip credit, did not pay her the required minimum wage, or follow FLSA guidelines regarding tip credits.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks compensation for all damages, including liquidated damages, attorney’s fees, costs and expenses and for such other relief the court may deem just and proper. She is represented by Christopher J. Whitelock of Whitelock & Associates PA in Fort Lauderdale.
