Broward County resident files suit against Focus Financial Services

Phone 03

MIAMI – A man alleges a Boynton Beach debt collector has called him numerous times in an attempt to collect a debt from someone else.

Jimmy Grinberg filed a complaint on April 1 in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida against Palm Beach Credit Adjustors Inc., doing business as Focus Financial Services, alleging that the debt collection agency violated the Telephone Consumer Protection Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that he has received non-emergency telephone calls from defendant. The plaintiff holds Focus Financial Services responsible because the defendant allegedly made calls and left messages using an automatic telephone dialing system or a pre-recorded or artificial voice in an attempt to collect a debt from an unknown party.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks a declaration that defendant’s calls violate the TCPA, a permanent injunction prohibiting defendant from placing non-emergency calls to his cellular telephone, compensation for damages and for such other or further relief as the court may deem proper. He is represented by Steven C. Holzman of Law Offices of Steven C. Holzman in Lighthouse Point.
