Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. accused of wrongfully denying insurance claims

Insurance 02

FORT MYERS – A man alleges his insurance company wrongfully denied benefits.

Gregory Miller filed a complaint on March 29 in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Fort Myers Division against Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiff alleges that has not received his benefits under his employee welfare benefit plan. The plaintiff holds Hartford Life and Accident Insurance Co. responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to comply with the provisions of the long-term disability policy, failed to comply with its own rules and regulations in making the adverse determination, subjected him to an unreasonable claims process and refused to pay him sums of money due.

The plaintiff requests a trial by jury and seeks payment for benefits due and owing, plus interest, attorneys' fees and costs, and such other relief as the court may deem appropriate. He is represented by William S. Coffman of Coffman Law in Tampa.
